Message from Food Lion president Meg Ham:

Dear Neighbor,

At Food Lion, we are deeply committed to the towns and cities we serve. We care about our communities and we care about the people in them, including our customers and our associates. That is at the heart of everything we do.

Your health and safety is our top priority. My commitment to you and all our neighbors is that we are intensely focused on taking every step possible to provide a safe and clean environment to serve you during this time of need. And, I wanted to take a few moments to share with you some of the steps we are taking to address coronavirus (COVID-19).

While we pride ourselves in having clean stores, we have increased the frequency of our cleaning procedures and added even more rigorous practices. Our associates are regularly disinfecting high-touch areas in our stores. We are working to ensure sanitizing wipes are available in stores and encourage you to use them as a precaution.

We are also working closely with our suppliers to ensure your local store has the items you need. As you can imagine certain high-demand items, such as household cleaning products, may temporarily be out of stock, but we are working as fast as possible to restock our shelves with these items.

We’re focused on keeping our associates safe, too. Because we know you count on our 68,000 associates to be there for you, we have reminded them of the importance of being diligent in caring for themselves as well.

We’ve encouraged associates who are sick to stay home until they are well. We’ve issued travel restrictions for our associates and have updated the information we routinely provide them on proper handwashing and sanitizing practices. Out of an abundance of caution, it is important to us to take these preventive measures in everyone’s interest.

At the core of our company is our commitment to nourishing our neighbors and setting them up for success. This is a fluid situation and one we are following closely as we continue to implement guidance from local, state and national health authorities including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Be assured we are working hard to keep products on our shelves and keep our stores safe to continue to serve you and your families. You can Count on Us.

With appreciation,

Meg Ham – President, Food Lion
