South Lake, one of the largest, mixed-use new developments currently under construction in the Baltimore-Washington corridor, will feature a new Giant Food and pharmacy store as anchor at South Lake’s Marketplace shopping center. When completed at the end of this year, Marketplace will encompass 600,000 square feet of retail, dining, sports entertainment, and hospitality components and will be an integral part of the huge, 380-acre South Lake development located in Bowie, MD.

What makes South Lake so unique is that the Marketplace center is the central part of the new $1.3 billion development which, when completed in 2025, will encompass 1,600 luxury apartments, single family homes and townhomes, two hotels of which one will be Home2 Suites by Hilton, and the Liberty Sports Park which adjoins the South Lake project and will drive customers to South Lake Marketplace. Liberty Sports park opened in 2022 and features 10 professional sports fields and has attracted over 344,000 attendees annually to lacrosse, soccer, football, field hockey and rugby tournaments.

Lanham-based NAI Michael Company is developing the South Lake project along with Owings Mills-based Chesapeake Realty Partners. Aside from the residential, commercial and sports facilities, South Lake residents will have access to a clubhouse, swimming pool, dog park, and wooded trails all connected by internal roads and pathways to provide visitors and residents with access to all South Lake amenities.
