The Fresh Grocer New Brunswick, NJ Grand Opening Postponed

The Fresh Grocer suprmarket has had to reschedule the opening of its first New Jersey location at New Brunswick’s Wellness Plaza twice due to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. The store will officially open its doors to the public on Friday, Nocvember 9 at 9:00 a.m., a full week after the originally scheduled opening.

“We want to help serve our community’s recovery efforts by making available groceries and supplies,” said Fresh Grocer president and CEO Pat Burns. “As cleanup efforts began mid-week, our goal was to get the store open on Monday, November 5, just a few days after our originally planned date. Unfortunately, we have found ourselves up against a number of unforeseen challenges caused by the hurricane and its aftermath that have forced us to push back the grand opening to November 9.”

The original opening date was set for Friday, November 2, along with a VIP preview party on November 1, but Hurricane Sandy and its after effects caused a delay in readying the store. In lieu of a preview party, The Fresh Grocer made a donation to the Red Cross to assist them in their disaster relief efforts.
