Food brokerage and marketing agency JOH has acquired Wisconsin-based Fresh Approach Sales & Marketing, expanding its presence in the Upper Midwest and strengthening its North Central operations.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2005 by President Dale Grudnowski, Fresh Approach Sales & Marketing serves clients and customers throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. JOH said the acquisition will expand its customer coverage and regional resources while strengthening its North Central organization as the company continues investing in key Midwest markets.

“We’re excited to welcome Dale and the entire Fresh Approach team to JOH,” Matt O’Hare, president and CEO of JOH, said in a statement. “Their strong values, customer focus and proven success make them an outstanding fit for our culture.”

Grudnowski said joining JOH will provide Fresh Approach with expanded resources, broader market reach and additional support while allowing the company to continue serving its clients and retail partners.

Brian Maguire, JOH’s executive vice president of produce, said Fresh Approach’s local expertise and customer relationships will strengthen the company’s ability to support clients and retailers throughout the region. Frank Tuma, executive vice president of JOH’s North Central region, said the acquisition enhances JOH’s local market expertise across Wisconsin and neighboring states.

The acquisition marks JOH’s latest investment in its North Central business. Earlier this year, the company expanded its Midwest produce operations through the acquisition of The Fresh Connection, a produce brokerage serving Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas.

Founded in 1956, JOH is an independent food brokerage and marketing agency operating 17 offices across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and North Central regions. The company employs more than 600 associates and represents more than 400 clients across the food, drug, mass and club channels through its membership in OSMG America.
