Uncle Giuseppe’s Plans King of Prussia, Moorestown Stores for 2027

Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace will enter Pennsylvania and expand its New Jersey footprint with two new stores planned for late 2027 in King of Prussia, Pa., and Moorestown, N.J.

The specialty grocer said the King of Prussia store will be located at DeKalb Plaza, 320 W. DeKalb Pike, marking Uncle Giuseppe’s first Pennsylvania location. The Moorestown store will open at East Gate Square, 1311 Nixon Drive, extending the company’s reach into South Jersey and the greater Philadelphia market.

Both stores are expected to open in late 2027. Specific opening dates have not been announced.

“King of Prussia and Moorestown are two markets we’ve been looking at for some time,” said Carl DelPrete, CEO and co-founder of Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace. “As we grow, we’re careful about where we go.”

The King of Prussia opening represents a significant geographic step for the Melville, N.Y.-based grocer, which currently operates in New York and New Jersey. DelPrete said Pennsylvania has been part of the company’s expansion plans for some time and described King of Prussia as a strong market from which to introduce the concept to new customers.

The Moorestown store, meanwhile, will give Uncle Giuseppe’s an entry point into South Jersey while placing it within the broader Philadelphia retail market.

“New Jersey has been very good to us, and we continue to see opportunities there,” DelPrete said. “Moorestown gives us a chance to reach customers in South Jersey and continue growing in a market where people already know Uncle Giuseppe’s.”

Northeast Expansion Continues

The two planned stores extend a period of steady expansion for Uncle Giuseppe’s.

The company opened its 13th location at Wheatley Plaza in Greenvale, N.Y., in August and is planning another store in Levittown, N.Y., for late 2026. The King of Prussia and Moorestown stores would bring the chain to 16 locations if the current development schedule remains on track.

The expansion also pushes Uncle Giuseppe’s farther into the competitive Philadelphia-area grocery market, where conventional supermarkets, specialty operators, warehouse clubs and other fresh-focused formats maintain a significant presence.

DelPrete said the company intends to maintain a measured approach to expansion rather than accelerating store openings simply to increase its unit count.

“It’s not about opening stores just to open stores,” he said. “The location has to make sense, and we have to be confident that we can deliver the same quality and experience customers expect from Uncle Giuseppe’s.”

Fresh Foods Anchor Store Concept

Both new stores are expected to follow Uncle Giuseppe’s existing fresh-food-heavy format, with in-store mozzarella and pasta production, full-service meat and seafood departments, an Italian deli, scratch bakery, prepared foods, produce, specialty cheeses and imported Italian products.

The stores will also offer catering and a conventional grocery assortment.

Founded in 1998, Uncle Giuseppe’s has built its concept around an Italian marketplace format emphasizing foods prepared in-store. Pasta, mozzarella, breads, pastries and prepared meals are produced throughout the day, while meat is cut to order.

Hiring has begun for both the King of Prussia and Moorestown stores, according to the company, with positions expected across management, deli, bakery, meat, seafood, prepared foods, produce, grocery and customer service.
