Redner’s Markets, the Reading, PA-based regional grocery chain, has named Elaine Redner as its new chairwoman of the board at the company, effective immediately.
This decision comes after the recent passing of her husband, Richard Redner, who served as chairman of the employee-owned merchant before his death in April. Both Elaine and Richard Redner have been associated with the company, founded by Richard’s father, Earl, in 1970.
Elaine Redner brings a wealth of experience and profound understanding of the business to her new role. She has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a strong vision for Redner’s, ensuring that the value and principles established by Richard will continue to guide the company’s future.
“I am honored to take on the role of chairwoman of the board during such a pivotal time for Redner’s,” she stated. “I am committed to carrying on my husband’s legacy and ensuring that Redner’s remains associated with quality and community service. Together with our talented team, I look forward to driving the company forward and continuing to serve our guests and communities.”
Along with Elaine’s new appointment, Ryan Redner, Richard’s son, and Gary Michael Redner, son of the late Gary Redner (Richard’s brother and Earl’s son), remain CEO and COO respectively for the company, which now operates 44 supermarkets and 25 Quick Shoppe convenience stores in Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
