Best-Met Publishing Co., publishers of Food World, Food Trade News, the Mid-Atlantic Grocery Industry Directory and operators of foodtradenews.com, has promoted Kevin Gallagher, Maria Maggio and Terri Maloney to co-publishers of the company, effective January 1, 2025.

Gallagher will become co-publisher of sales; Maggio will be promoted to co-publisher of marketing; and Maloney will be elevated to co-publisher of editorial. The three have combined for more than 60 years with Best-Met, which was founded in 1978 by Jeff Metzger and the late Dick Bestany.

“The grocery business has been evolving rapidly, especially since the COVID era,” said Metzger, who will remain as president and become executive publisher of the Columbia, MD-based organization. “Kevin, Maria and Terri truly are rock stars and have been the most important components in helping grow our business, especially in the last few years. I’m proud of their contributions and am happy that I can reward them for their achievements.”

Gallagher, currently VP-New York Metro and New England for Food Trade News, joined Best-Met in 2012 after a long career with Modern Grocer, the trade publication that once covered the New York Metro market. He began his grocery industry career with Scott Paper in 1986.

Maggio, who is VP and general manager of Food Trade News, has spent her entire career in the food industry, starting with her family’s business, M. Maggio Company (now owned by HP Hood) in 1980. She later became chief executive of William Greenberg Desserts, an upscale, high-profile retail bake shop in Manhattan. Maggio joined Best-Met in 2009.

Maloney has been with Best-Met since 1989, beginning as a data entry clerk and later serving as general manager of Food World Information Services. She was named editor in 2001 and promoted to VP and editorial director in 2007.
