Ahold Delhaize Grows Partnership with Uber Eats

Ahold Delhaize USA said Monday it has expanded its partnership with Uber Eats, bringing on-demand grocery delivery from nearly 2,000 stores to customers across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

The rollout places locations operated by Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company — including its GIANT and MARTIN’S banners — Hannaford and Stop & Shop onto the Uber Eats marketplace, allowing customers to shop thousands of items ranging from fresh foods to pantry staples and household essentials.

Customers can place orders for immediate or scheduled delivery directly through the Uber Eats app, track deliveries in real time and, at select locations, purchase alcohol. The companies said first-time users will also have access to promotional offers tied to the launch.

Eligible orders at participating stores will accept SNAP/EBT payments, enabled through Uber’s partnership with Forage, expanding access to online grocery services for lower-income shoppers.

The expansion builds on an existing relationship between the companies through Uber Direct, which supports first-party delivery across Ahold Delhaize USA’s owned digital channels by tapping into Uber’s courier network.

Ahold Delhaize USA, part of global retailer Ahold Delhaize, said the move is aimed at strengthening its omnichannel strategy as it seeks to meet customers both through its own e-commerce platforms and major third-party marketplaces. The company serves more than 26 million customers weekly and is the largest grocery retail group on the East Coast and the fourth-largest in the United States.

Uber said the expanded partnership increases access to fresh and affordable groceries while giving customers more flexibility to shop for both immediate needs and planned trips, as competition intensifies in grocery e-commerce and last-mile delivery.
