The FTN/FW Top 10 Grocery & CPG Stocks are curated using a combination of market relevance, segment representation, trading activity, and weekly performance trends. We track them with Google Gemini. We’re less interested in leaderboard bragging rights than in where capital is flowing – and what that says about how investors are reading the grocery business in real time.
The “K-shape” and bifurcation we noted last Monday has actually intensified in the five trading days since. What started as a painful valuation reset is looking more like the beginnings of a rout.
While the broader S&P 500 (INDEXSP:.INX) has faced a slight pull back of -2.09% since the start of June, our FTT grocery and CPG basket is showing a widening gap between high-performers and those struggling with valuation resets.
Moving from Bad to Worse
The “safe haven” trade is moving beyond fragmentation; it’s actually crumbling. But there have been some real changes in the basket.
Sprouts Farmers Market Inc (NASDAQ:SFM), previously a deep laggard, has rebounded significantly, gaining 6.08% over the last five sessions. On the other hand, Dollar General Corp (NYSE:DG), which showed strength at the beginning of the month, has had its momentum stopped cold. DG shares have dropped -4.23% as investor preference shifts away from extreme value toward more diversified giants.
Walmart Inc (NASDAQ:WMT) and Costco Wholesale Corp (NASDAQ:COST) are currently stabilizing after their late-May declines, both posting modest gains as they weather the broader market volatility. Meanwhile, tech-adjacent Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) has slipped -8.72% over the same period, reflecting a broader cooling in growth-heavy momentum that had previously buoyed the stock.
