JOH Promotes McFadden, SJU Students Get Scholarships

JOH recently announced the promotion of Tim McFadden to director of headquarter sales.

McFadden has three decades of experience and expertise in the food industry. He joined JOH in 2023 as an account manager in the center store division. Before this position, he served as an account executive for a sales and marketing agency, a supply chain manager and a senior category manager for a major Northeast customer. His new position will allow him to continue working closely with customers and clients while taking on expanded responsibilities in financial budgeting, planning and management within the division.

“Tim has played an important role in our team’s success, always bringing a strong focus on growth and building meaningful relationships,” said Ryan Tierney, EVP of center store, New England. “We’re excited to see him take on this new leadership role and know he’ll continue making a big impact. Congratulations, Tim!”

Three Saint Joseph’s University students were recently awarded scholarships by the Mid-Atlantic Food Trade Organization.

Eshika Attri, rising senior food marketing co-op major, was awarded a $10,000 scholarship. A native of Burlington Township, NJ, Attri’s first co-op assignment was at Chobani within the category management team and she now currently works for Bayer as a commercial strategy intern. She is incredibly grateful for the generosity of the MAFTO Foundation and is committed to furthering its mission of supporting and uplifting local communities.

Andrea Alonzo Vidaurre, a rising senior pursuing a double major in food marketing and business intelligence and analytics, was awarded a $5,000 scholarship. She is currently working as a marketing and merchandising intern for Albertsons in the Mid-Atlantic Division, where she supports omnichannel strategies, analyzes weekly ad performance across more than 290 stores, and provides data-driven insights for seasonal planning. In 2023, Vidaurre completed a co-op with Aramark in field marketing and food operations, where she honed her skills in brand engagement, analytics, and understanding customer behavior.

Last October, Vidaurre had the opportunity to attend the National Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Convention (NFRA) in National Harbor, MD, where she gained invaluable industry insights and built meaningful connections within the food marketing community. As an international student from Guatemala, Vidaurre is especially honored to be a recipient of the MAFTO scholarship award and is excited to give back to the community that has embraced her and provided so many opportunities since her arrival.

Also receiving a $5,000 scholarship was Stefano Billis, a rising senior co-op student with a double major in food marketing and business intelligence and analytics. A native of Lititz, PA, Billis is currently the youngest EVP of the Food Marketing Association in recent history, a member of the SJU chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma which honors business students in the top 10 percent of their school, a member of Alpha Iota Delta and Omega Rho, two honor societies for the top performing Decision System Sciences students on campus, participates in the dean’s leadership program, and is a Haub School of business ambassador. Billis worked for The Giant Company for three years recently concluded his first co-op experience at Dollar Tree Inc.. He is the first SJU co-op to work at Circana performing data analytics for the company. Billis describes himself as a very passionate student who is always eager to learn. He is very excited to see what the future holds and especially where his career takes him after graduation.

The Genuardi Family Foundation also recently awarded scholarships to three Saint Joseph’s University food marketing students.

Emma O’Neill is native of Mount Laurel, NJ, and a 2023 graduate of Lenape High School. She is currently completing her sophomore year at SJU, where she is pursuing a double major in food marketing and leadership, ethics, and organizational sustainability. She was recently promoted to vice president of professional events for the Food Marketing Association after serving as director during her freshman year.  O’Neill completed a co-op with Aramark in the fall and is looking forward to interviewing for another opportunity next spring. O’Neill describes herself as a determined and motivated individual who strives to be the best version of herself in all areas of life.

James Cartier, from Easton, PA, is currently finishing his sophomore year as a double in both food marketing and business intelligence and analytics. This past fall semester, he finished his first co-op at The Hershey Company as a field sales co-op in the Philadelphia territory. He serves as vice president of outreach for the Food Marketing Association. Cartier believes that food marketing will put him in the best position to succeed and live out his passions of nutrition and giving back to those in the community.

Molly Allen grew up in Springfield, PA, and graduated from Friends’ Central School in 2023. She is currently completing her sophomore year SJU, where she is majoring in food marketing with a co-major in international business.

Allen has been involved in the food industry since the age of 15, working in multiple restaurants and cafes as a barista, hostess, and food runner. She completed a category development co-op at Chobani in SoHo, NYC, where she worked with Nielsen and Numerator data to support strategic decision-making. At SJU, she is the social media coordinator for the Academy of Food Marketing and the director of marketing for the Food Marketing Association. Allen opted for an education at SJU because she believed it would give her the strongest path forward. She is passionate about creating food businesses that are rooted in community, quality, and purpose.
