Akhand currently leads advocacy efforts for Altria across Pennsylvania and the Northeast and brings eight years of industry experience spanning government affairs, retailer relations and wholesale engagement. Prior to his current role, he managed retail and wholesale accounts in Pennsylvania and supported operational initiatives for large multi-state retail organizations.
PFMA President and CEO Alex Baloga said Akhand’s experience working with retailers, wholesalers and industry stakeholders across multiple markets will strengthen the association’s advocacy and member engagement efforts.
“Abir brings strong advocacy experience and a clear understanding of the issues facing retailers and wholesalers across our industry,” Baloga said in a statement.
PFMA’s board includes executives from across Pennsylvania’s food and beverage industry, representing retailers, wholesalers, distributors and service providers.
The board helps guide the association’s legislative advocacy, industry programs and member initiatives throughout the Commonwealth.
Akhand joins the board as PFMA continues its work on behalf of Pennsylvania’s grocery, convenience and food retail sectors amid a rapidly evolving regulatory and operating environment.
